BURKE PRIMARY CARE EARNS NATIONAL RECOGNITION
Morganton, NC (Oct. 10, 2017) – Burke Primary Care was recently recognized for earning National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) recognition as a Patient-Centered Medical Home family practice.
The NCQA Patient-Centered Medical Home program reflects the input of the American College of Physicians (ACP), American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP), American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) and American Osteopathic Association (AOA) and others.
Additionally, the NCQA Patient-Centered Medical Home standards emphasize the use of systematic, patient-centered, coordinated care that supports access, communication and patient involvement. Medical home is an approach to delivering and organizing primary care that helps achieve the goals of the Triple Aim: improve the experience of care, improve the health of populations, and reduce per capita costs of health care. A medical home achieves these goals by adopting new technologies, care delivery methods and relationships with patients and their families that encourage primary care to be patient-centered, comprehensive, coordinated, accessible and committed to quality and safety.
“NCQA Patient-Centered Medical Home Recognition raises the bar in defining high-quality care by emphasizing access, health information technology and coordinated care focused on patients,” said NCQA President Margaret E. O’Kane. “Recognition shows that Burke Primary Care in Morganton, NC has the tools, systems and resources to provide its patients with the right care, at the right time.”
“Although Burke Primary Care has always practiced as a Medical Home, this prestigious recognition, confirms Burke Primary Care provides the high level of care, coordination and access measured by PCMH national standards. It’s great to see Burke Primary Care recognized as part of an elite group of PCMH practices,” said Scott Gallagher, Chief Operating Officer of Burke Primary Care.
NCQA is a private, non-profit organization dedicated to improving health care quality. NCQA accredits and certifies a wide range of health care organizations. It also recognizes clinicians and practices in key areas of performance. NCQA’s Healthcare Effectiveness Data and Information Set (HEDIS®) is the most widely used performance measurement tool in health care. NCQA’s Web site (ncqa.org) contains information to help consumers, employers and others make more informed health care choices.
