DR. MIA GRIGGS JOINS BURKE PRIMARY CARE AS FAMILY CARE PHYSICIAN

Credentials Include Focus on Sports Medicine

Morganton, NC – Dr. Mia Richardson Griggs recently joined Burke Primary Care’s as a primary care family physician with an emphasis on sports medicine.

A member of both the American Academy of Family Physicians and the American Medical Society for Sports Medicine, Griggs was most recently employed with Cabarrus Family Medicine. She was a family physician and a sports medicine physician with that firm.

Griggs earned her MD degree from East Carolina University in 2001 and her BS degree in biology from Wake Forest University in 1997.

Additionally, Griggs completed her Family Medicine internship from University Health Systems of Eastern Carolina, Pitt County Memorial Hospital, Greenville, NC Family Medicine Internship (July 2001-June 2002); her NC Residency in Family Medicine with University Health Systems of Eastern Carolina, Pitt County Memorial Hospital, Greenville (July 2002-July 2004), and her Fellowship in Primary Care Sports Medicine with the Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University, Greenville, NC (August 2004-July 2005). “We are delighted to have Dr. Griggs join our growing staff of credentialed and qualified primary care physicians,” said Scott Gallagher, Chief Operating Officer for Morganton-based Burke Primary Care. “She brings to our patients and the community not only a powerful commitment to quality family health care and women’s health, but also proven training and expertise in the growing world of sports medicine.”
