Natalie Thompson Joins Burke Primary Care as Family Nurse Practitioner

Morganton, NC (Feb. 27, 2017) – Natalie Alexander Thompson, MSN, FNP-C, recently joined Burke Primary Care as a family nurse practitioner to provide personalized care to patients across their lifespan.  A member of the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners, Thompson will team with Dr. Keith Smith and his roster of patients.

Natalie and her husband, Brian, live in Morganton and have one daughter, Maggie-Claire. “She keeps us busy,” Natalie said. “Her hobbies are my hobbies.”  Natalie enjoys a good book and the beautiful Blue Mountains. 

Thompson earned her Master of Science in Nursing from Western Carolina University in 2016. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Lenoir-Rhyne University in 2007. Previously, Thompson was a primary care registered nurse with the Department of Veteran’s Affairs – Hickory. Additionally, she has family nurse practitioner clinical experience with Mountain View Pediatrics, McDowell Medical Associates, Sanger Cardiology, Women’s Health Group and CHS-Blue Ridge.

Engaged in healthcare enrichment programs since 2005, Thompson completed a program in Yucatan Peninsula, Mexico where she assessed differences in healthcare systems and provided basic preventive health screenings and hygiene education to primitive villages across the region; participated in the National Veterans Wheelchair Games in Richmond, VA where she treated, assisted, and encouraged wheelchair-bound athletes as a Medical Support Volunteer; worked with veterans during the Homeless Veterans Stand Down-Hickory, NC where she provided homeless veterans with basic preventative health education, health screenings, hygiene necessities and education, and performed health examinations for farm workers and their families during the  Vecinos Farmwork Health Program in Cullowhee, NC
